This week the Evidenced team joined industry leaders at the TALiNT Partners Future of Talent Summit in London - an event filled with insightful talks, candid discussions and a clear sense that the future of hiring is approaching faster than many organisations are prepared for. Here are our key takeaways.

1. AI Adoption Is Rising - But the Risks Are Real

AI dominated conversations across the summit, but it became clear that adoption is still slow in some areas. From the potential for bias in AI-assisted assessments to privacy concerns and compliance scrutiny, organisations are moving slowly with candidate facing AI tools.

At the same time, some companies are already seeing AI deliver real benefits in scheduling and TA admin tasks. It was clear that AI can unlock value - but only when it’s deployed responsibly, with clear governance, defined risk tolerance and ongoing human oversight. And with few companies employing formal AI ethics committees, it appears there is still work to be done in these areas.

2. Skills Transformation Is Real - But It's Hard to Keep Up

Despite constant talk about future skills, many organisations are still managing skills taxonomies on outdated softwares like Excel and Word. This makes it almost impossible to create the living, adaptable skills architecture required for modern workforce planning.

Meanwhile, it’s taking employees around a year to deliver full value in their roles, and with that level of investment, companies can’t afford to guess at the skills their people actually have - or will need in the future.

As a result of this changing landscape, Organisational Development and Strategic Workforce Planning teams are becoming increasingly important functions inside organisations, and their influence will only grow from here.

3. When Does AI Interviewing Become a Turing Test?

We were proud to contribute to the day's conversation with Evidenced Co-Founder Andy Clarke speaking on a panel about EVP, candidate experience and the role of Hiring Managers in the interview process.

Andy highlighted that with the right structure and guidance from tools like Evidenced, human Hiring Managers can deliver the fairness, consistency and rigour often promised by AI, whilst doing what AI simply cannot - connect, engage and bring an EVP to life.

It was also stressed that interviews should be a moment of human clarity, not a contest of machine outputs. If AI interviewers are judging AI-assisted candidates, at what point does an interview stop being an interview and start becoming a Turing Test?

4. Talent Roles Are Evolving Faster Than Ever

Another key point of the day was around AI-enabled hiring creating new roles inside talent teams. Some of these roles included Talent Marketplace Architects, Workflow Architects, and AI Coaches who understand both TA and HR governance. Recruiters, meanwhile, will need deeper data confidence and a closer relationship with analytics as AI evolves.

It was also pointed out that with companies increasingly at risk of cyber attacks, TA is becoming a major security risk for organisations - every human decision point now carries more weight than ever before, especially when granting new hires access to your companies private data. This is driving a renewed focus on transparency, governance and capability building across hiring teams.
